. caleb's family purchased chewy in may from an organization called autism service dogs of america. neighbors and friends donated 13,500 so caleb could get the dog. >> it probably took us about three to four months to raise the money. >> reporter: until th, caleb's mother says, caleb was sleeping only three hours a night. he had severe problems with transitions like going to school, and sometimes he ran away from adults assigned to watch him. >> he would run out into the parking lot at the end of the day to get away from his aide, just go bhind moving vehicles to try to find me. >> reporter: she says the dog, by simply leaning against the boy, just calms him. >> he is helping him, i see him changing tremendously, or at the very least, decrease. >> reporter: his parents went to court last month and got a temporary order allowing the dog to bring him to school. a full trial is set for november. caleb's parents say the dog is essential to caleb's education and his safety. the school board says it only provides comfort for the little boy, and under the law it is not a service dog. >> i
